About Rachel Ingrid

I create at the crossroads of what is seen and what is sensed—where form participates with feeling, and reality glistens with unseen meaning. I search for the invisible threads that bind enchantment and wisdom to the physical world. Each piece is not just an image, but a transformation—of knowledge into texture and potential into color, showcasing that there is always a sparkle of the extraordinary found in even the most ordinary.

I believe in the power of art to shift perception, to open inner doorways, to remind us of the ever-present magic that is woven into the everyday, thereby empowering us to be who we are meant to be.

BIO:

Rachel Ingrid was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida but has been happily settled in New Jersey for over a decade. Her interest in art began in her teenaged years, when elaborate doodles and simple paintings from her bedside table became her only escape from a heavily turbulent time. The relief she experienced from this self expression taught her about the power of art, and led her to continue her artistic explorations throughout the years.  During her self taught years, her talent was recognized rather quickly. Rachel was able to gain momentum by being shown in a local gallery, exhibited in several artist shows, teaching classes, selling originals, and fulfilling multiple commissions for collectors. This momentum proved revolutionary for her, as it led to her seeking professional education from Milan Art Institute and launching herself as a full time artist.

The art of Rachel Ingrid is quite an energetic force. Her style has a way of channeling inspiration and quiet wonder, while simultaneously commanding a sense of power, whether that be from her subject matter, her audience, or even from the Universe itself.  Drawing on the natural world, legends, and dreams alike, she weaves these languages together to reveal truths that are easily felt before they are understood.  Her process is evidently layered and has an alchemical quality, which lends the imagery the same depth and meaning as her descriptions and stories.  There is an effortless flow in her ability to marry figure and form with movement and expressive textures.  One thing is for sure: she is consistent in her love for juxtaposing the delicate with the strong, continuously interlacing a theme of resilient empowerment while keeping a soft, open heart.

“I had to learn to accept my hardships as the price of admission for wisdom and personal power. In doing so, I chose to transform, to channel the promise of hope and seek out the magic in everything.. In a nutshell, this is exactly what I hope my art helps others do for themselves.”

Rachel’s studio is nestled between mountains and forests in northern New Jersey. She loves to soak in nature through hikes, mountain bike rides, and is devoted to her 4 adopted cats whom she adorably refers to as her “kids”.   After all, she credits Mother Nature as her greatest teacher in art and in life.  Working year round, Rachel maintains a prolific, steady flow of new artwork. She ultimately envisions her art and experience as a tool for giving back, whether that be through teaching classes, mentorship, or working alongside charitable causes.  Her steadfast belief in the power of art to heal and empower is her drive, and thus her aim is to find it in every home and heart.

A little bit about my process:

I believe that my process is a metaphor for the way we are as beings—it is a process where movements, texture, and spontaneous moments layer together and build one after the other with energetic depth. I have always known in my heart that we as humans are made of layers: layers of experiences, emotions, thoughts, beliefs are what make us who we are at our core. It is the texture of our soul.  I view my paintings this way, and so my process is multi layered; the life and heart of each painting emerges more after each layer.  I love to start out with a sketch. Its quite satisfying to watch my fingers go from clean to a muddy mess of charcoal or graphite. Then, I call on the power of inks to leave their unique marks and colors. Their organic flow that intuitively leads to marbling and drippy effects is simply magical. After layering inks, collaging patterned papers, and some acrylics, I then move on to layering oil paint over everything.  Oils add a juicy vibrancy that ties it all together and brings it to life.
